Bader heads to Yanks from Cards for Monty
NEW YORK - - In an astonishing move that landed a very short ways off of Tuesday's Trade Deadline, the Yankees gained outfielder Harrison Bader with a player to be named or cash contemplations from the Cardinals in return for left-hander Jordan Montgomery.
Bader, a Gold Glove-winning focus defender who grew up close to Yankee Stadium, is as of now on the harmed list with plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Yankees senior supervisor Brian Cashman said that he felt the move merited making, despite the fact that Bader isn't supposed to play until basically September.

The Yankees have spoken about their arrangement to move Aaron Judge out of focus field in the last part, expecting to save his legs fresher for the postseason drive. Judge has begun 52 games in focus field this season, the most on the Yanks' list, in front of Aaron Hicks (49) and others.
"It's difficult to get your hands on person of that type," Cashman said, "and sadly it cost us one of our local players in Jordan Montgomery that we've depended a ton on. Please accept my apologies to see Montgomery go; he's a great pitcher and a great individual."
Cashman said that right-hander Frankie Montas, obtained from the Athletics on Monday, will take Montgomery's revolution opening. That provides New York with a beginning five of Gerrit Cole, Montas, Jameson Taillon, Nestor Cortes and Domingo Germán, with Luis Severino set to return in mid-September.
The 29-year-old Montgomery was 3-3 with a 3.69 ERA in 21 beginnings this season, striking out 7.6 players per nine innings.
"This is my family," Montgomery said. "This is all I know. I've been playing with similar folks for a really long time. I will miss [Aaron] Judge, going to miss Jamo. It's intense."
A six-year veteran who was initially chosen by the Yankees in the fourth round of the 2014 MLB Draft from the University of South Carolina, Montgomery is 22-20 with a 3.94 ERA in 98 vocation games (97 beginnings).
Montgomery keep going pitched on Sunday against the Royals, permitting four runs in four or more innings and taking a no-choice. His next start, incidentally, could come against the Yankees - - New York visits St. Louis for a three-game series that opens on Friday.
"It will be unusual," Montgomery said. "Anything that they need me to do around there, I'll do it. It's simply bizarre timing."
